Chance Peña gave it his all on his last night of his tour. When you think of his music, you think of moments you rest and ponder. Moments that ease your reality, and that’s how it was in the atmosphere of the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee.

 

    On the last night of tours, there’s a warrant for exhaustion and weariness, yet it didn’t prevent Peña from offering the crowd everything he had in him. And those that attended were eager for it. Every song was recognized within the first few chords of his guitar before bursts of claps and hollers erupted the beautiful silence. It gave the Texas native the type of confirmation to perform beyond extraordinary despite there being the mere yet powerful times of just him and his guitar.

 

    Moments were cheered, respected even, when the storyteller in him would bring up the origins of his career, the nostalgia of how he wrote songs like “Sleep Deprivation,” “The Mountain Is You,” and “The Voyager.” This was a night full of great endings in the era he’s departing now and going into the next phase of his life, maybe even the next future album whenever he’s ready for it. 

 

    This Nashville night ended in an encore of four incredible songs, bringing back portions of his career and accomplishments for the crowd to devour until the next tour. This was a night of acceptance of grief, loss, love from past selves, and healing. The crowd didn’t need fancy dance moves or extraordinary stage setups to make a show memorable. They needed his lyrics, his melody, his songs. All they wanted was Chance Peña, and he gave them that and much more.
