EMM In Real Life
-by Kayla Jo

Hailing from Michigan herself, EMM blessed The Stache with her glass shattering vocals, intense energy, and touching personality for The Dumb World Tour. She started with a dramatic entrance onto the stage with an entourage and lights following Veronica Scott and Miss Moscato, setting herself up to the audience that surged to the stage as soon as the lights went down. Suddenly, the intimate venue seemed massive as the crowd stood shoulder to shoulder, anticipating the star that is EMM.

EMM’s raw stage presence and dance numbers had everyone smiling, singing along, crying, and dancing along to the beat. EMM’s music isn't only something to enjoy, it's something to experience. Behind the bass and rhythmic dancing there’s power, there’s heartbreak, and there’s overcoming everything that tries to bring you down in life through empowerment and community. All of her music, from older albums to the newest album Black Diamond, was sung with enthusiasm throughout the floor.

Throughout the night, EMM would talk with the audience about reclaiming their power and unapologetically being their absolute self. With everything that's been happening throughout the world, the empowering speech was a nice reminder that there is support for whatever someone is going through.

EMM is a multi-talented artist who played multiple instruments throughout the night, taking to the piano for songs that hit a little closer to the heart while grabbing a key-tar to add  funky lines in others. She even brought her sister on stage to celebrate her birthday later into the night to show the appreciation she has for the support and inspiration she's received from everyone in her life during and after the tour.

To close out the night, EMM sang a touching number while she walked through the crowd. Fans surrounded her as they sang along, sharing in hugs and tears as the night ended. The compact space in the venue made this concert less of a performance and more of a gathering of friends. Without a barricade separating the stage from the audience, EMM was able to be her absolute self with unfiltered access to interact with the fans. Despite the end of the performance on stage, she didn't stop there. She invited everyone over to the merch table for photos and a meet and greet. There wasn't just a live concert at The Intersection that night, it was a cathartic movement for all.
